Walking through the Financial District (FiDi) is awe-inspiring thanks to the enormous skyscrapers, skillful works of art and centuries-old historical sites. But do you know what all these epic creations have in common? They were made by folks drinking coffee, lots and lots of coffee.
As such there are plenty of can’t miss coffee shops in the Financial District. From modern cafes that are drenched in sunlight to (literal) hole in the wall small businesses, you’re sure to find a tasty cup of joe in FiDi.
As a local, I’ve learned that money doesn’t make the world go round, caffeine does. If you’re looking to satisfy your need for caffeine you’re in luck because I’m here to help you find the best coffee shops in the Financial District!

Best Coffee Shops in the Financial District
#15. Matto Espresso
Not only does Matto Espresso have delicious coffee, everything in the cafe is priced at $2.50! In a city that regularly charges $5/6 for a latte – that’s a steal of a deal. “Matto” means crazy in Italian, and this cafe thinks it’s crazy to charge more than $2.50 for coffee.
The chain has 2 coffee shops in the Financial District giving you ample opportunity to take advantage of the incredible prices. To get your items for $2.50 you must order through Matto Espresso’s mobile app, otherwise you can expect to pay $3 at the register.
It’s not just black coffee at the great price, most popular coffee orders are available. Matto Espresso doesn’t even charge extra for milk-substitutions. Even the pastries are $2.50, so grab a croissant for the road.
The incredible prices, friendly service and wide availability make Matto Espresso one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District. Even if you don’t use the mobile app, $3 is still a great (New York City) price for a coffee.
Address: 37 John St, New York, NY 10038
#14. Blue Spoon
Blue Spoon coffee is a bit of a hidden gem. As one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District, this cafe has your typical coffee orders as well as a few unique drinks (like a honey lavender latte you’ll crave for weeks).
My go-to order is the iced raspberry mocha, which is unconventional but fun. Every once in a while it’s nice to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary and Blue Spoon Coffee Company fits the bill.
The Financial District cafe has plenty of breakfast and lunch options that are quick and convenient (sandwiches, wraps, paninis). So whether you’re here on a lunch break or just looking for something to quell a growling stomach, rest assured you’re at one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District.
Address: 76 Chambers St, New York, NY 10007 & 90 William St, New York, NY 10038
#13. Cafe Grumpy
Founded in 2005, Cafe Grumpy started roasting their coffee in house in 2009. The transition took their coffee to the next level and locals couldn’t get enough. The company had to open up shops all over NYC in order to meet the demand, including one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District.
Instantly recognizable thanks to their unique logo, Cafe Grumpy has uncovered marketing gold. A less than thrilled caricature adorns their cups and coffee shops drawing in locals eager to see it up close. Those who originally stopped by for a photo end up coming back thanks to some of the best coffee in the Financial District.
A no frills, straightforward coffee shop in the Financial District, Cafe Grumpy is always ready to satisfy any caffeinated craving. The cafe has a few tables for you to hang around or you can grab a quick coffee for the road.
Address: 20 Stone St, New York, NY 10004
#12. Blue Bottle
Blue Bottle Coffee hails from San Francisco, a city well respected for its mastery of coffee. But let’s address the elephant in the room — this cafe is not unique to the neighborhood, but that doesn’t stop it from being one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District.
You’ll find Blue Bottle all over the city because New Yorkers can’t get enough of their coffee. With two coffee shops in the Financial District getting a good cup of joe has never been easier!
Specializing in pour-overs, Blue Bottle Coffee has mastered every drink you can conceive of. From foamy lattes, airy cappuccinos to vibrant iced Americanos, everything is exceptional.
If you find yourself in need of a strong cup, make a beeline towards Blue Bottle Coffee for the best coffee in the Financial District. The cafes are modern and welcoming – so hang around a while and meet up with a friend.
Address: 150 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10007 & 22 Broad St, New York, NY 10005,
#11. La Colombe
La Colombe is one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District, guaranteed to satisfy all your caffeinated cravings. With an array of coffees, teas and treats, La Colombe takes it one step further and offers specialty coffees on-tap.
There’s currently a Peppermint Mocha Latte on tap, and if you are a fan of the season you’re not going to want to miss out.
The coffee shop in the Financial District is a small one, so I wouldn’t visit expecting to find a good place to work. There is seating along the wall though, so if you need to rest your legs you’ll have the opportunity to do so.
Address: 67 Wall St, New York, NY 10005
#10. 787 Coffee
787 Coffee isn’t unique to the Financial District, but that doesn’t mean the cafe doesn’t deserve a shout-out. The coffee is consistently great and the baristas are always top-notch, it’s simply one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District!
I especially love the purpose-driven mission of this charming cafe, which is to provide a farm to cup coffee experience while supporting the local community. The coffee is grown and processed on a farm in Puerto Rico by the owners of the cafe.
The goal is to grow coffee in a sustainable manner and offer livable wages to the locals they hire. It’s a beautiful thing and the end result is exceptional – some of the best coffee in the Financial District!
The Financial District cafe is small but has tables available for folks to hang out, and I’m going to let you in on a little local secret.
The Elevated Acre is a completely free public park that is only a 2 minute walk from 787 Coffee. Take the escalator at 55 Waters St. up and you’ll have a quiet, serene place to enjoy your coffee!
Address: 66 Pearl St, New York, NY 10004
#9. Birch Coffee
Birch Coffee is a staple in New York City, you can find these coffee shops peppered throughout the city. The reason is simple: New Yorker don’t settle for mediocre and the high quality coffee from Birch always seems to hit the spot.
Their coffee shop in the Financial District is no exception. Serving some of the best coffee in FiDi, Birch is my go-to spot whenever I’m in the neighborhood.
Swing by for delicious coffee or to grab a bag of locally sourced beans (roasted onsite, to boot). Also, I’d be doing you a disservice if I didn’t mention the delicious toasted almond tea.
Address: 8 Spruce St, New York, NY 10038
#8. Bean & Bean
Bean & Bean is run by a powerhouse mother/daughter team. The local business has gone from a lone outpost in NYC to four locations and a roastery in Queens in an impressive 15 years. The original location just happens to be one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District.
Not only does Bean & Bean source their coffee beans from ethical & organic farms, the company puts an emphasis on bridging the gender pay gap. The attention to gender-equality goes beyond their cafes and extends to their entire coffee sourcing chain.
At the end of the day, the coffee is delicious too. Boasting one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District the eager locals can’t seem to get enough of the honey lattes, matchas or pastries.
The cafe’s aroma embraces you the second you walk through the door thanks to the freshly roasted coffee. If I could get a candle in a Bean & Bean scent I’d gladly buy one for each room in my apartment!
Address: 71 Broadway, New York, NY 10006
#7. Black Fox
A straightforward neighborhood cafe, Black Fox is as charming as can be. Although there are multiple locations peppered around NYC, I think their location on Pine St. is one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District.
If I had to describe the cafe in one word I’d call it hipster – in all the right ways. The big windows and modern look set the tone for a mellow, laid back coffee shop chock-full of locals enjoying their coffee.
If you’re in search of a Financial District coffee shop to meet up with a friend Black Fox is perfect. As one of the most spacious cafes in FiDi there is plenty of tables lining the walls as well as a small outdoor seating area.
If you need a suggestion at Black Fox, I have yet to try a latte I didn’t like. My personal favorite is the vanilla date latte, which is a perfect level of sweetness.
Address: 70 Pine St, New York, NY 10005
#6. Cafe Patoro
Cafe Patoro’s claim to fame is their pao de queijo, which are small hand-rolled cheese buns baked fresh daily. It’s only fitting one of the most unique coffee shops in the Financial District have an equally memorable staple dish.
The unique options don’t stop with the cheese bread, you can also get a brigadeiro croissant, which is a croissant filled with Brazilian truffle spread and sprinkles. The pastry is tasty and fun, and something you won’t find at the other coffee shops in the Financial District.
The Brazilian flavor extends to the drinks too. The FiDi cafe makes a yerba mate iced tea “just like in Rio” that is perfect when you don’t want a hot coffee. And remember the brigadeiro croissant? Pair it with a brigadeiro latte and you’ll really be having a good day.
Address: 223 Front St, New York, NY 10038
#5. Brookfield Place
It’s easy to walk into Brookfield Place and forget you’re in Manhattan, the mall has palm trees inside! Even if you don’t plan on shopping you should swing by Brookfield Place for some of the best coffee shops in the Financial District.
There are plenty of places to buy a cup of coffee, like Le District, Laughing Man, Ma Ze Dahr, Olive’s and For Five Cafe. At Brookfield Place it’s not so much where you buy the coffee from though – it’s where you get to enjoy it.
On sunny summer mornings the courtyard swells with locals exercising, reading the paper or walking their dogs. Since the mall overlooks the Hudson River it’s one of the best places to plop down and enjoy your coffee.
In the winter? Brookfield Place still has some of the best coffee shops in the Financial District. There is a food court upstairs that offers plenty of seating. The giant windows give you the same views you’d get outside, but by staying indoors you stay nice and toasty.
Address: 230 Vesey St, New York, NY 10281
#4. Suited
How fitting is it that one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District is named Suited. The neighborhood is chock-full of business folks running to and from work so the name is both charming and easy to remember.
The Financial District cafe is small but modern and bright. On a sunny day day the entire space radiates warmth, and the outdoor seating is too tempting to pass up.
The coffee at Suited is tailor-made and delicious, and the cafe has a small breakfast menu for any empty stomachs. As one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District, all the pastries at Suited are made in house and delicious, so don’t forget to pick one up before going on your way.
Address: 45 John St, New York, NY 10038
#3. Voyager Espresso
You wouldn’t assume that one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District would be at the entrance of a subway station, but Voyager Espresso is. The cafe is a literal hidden gem!
Opened in 2015 Voyager Espresso is one of New York City’s best kept secrets and was named in honor of Carl Sagan. The famous astronomer took part in the Voyager space program, and the FiDi cafe makes coffee with a similar scientific approach and wonder Sagan used.
This coffee shop in the Financial District roasts their coffee beans in small batches, so any drink you order will be at a peak level of freshness. You should note Voyager Espresso is only open on weekdays, so head to one of the other Financial District coffee shops if you need a weekend pick-me-up.
Voyager Espresso can be a little confusing to find, so head to John Street between William & Gold Streets. You’ll see an entrance for the Fulton St. subway station, simply head down the stairs and enjoy!
Address: 110 William St, Lower Level, NY 10038
#2. Kaffe Landskap
Kaffe Landskap has a bit of a rustic feel to it, which makes sense because it’s a Scandinavian company. Perfectly cozy and warm, it’s one of the best coffee shops in the Financial District.
The FiDi cafe rarely feels crowded thanks to sizeable wooden tables that make it easy to set up your laptop for a work day. Fair warning though – make sure your laptop has a full battery since there aren’t any convenient outlets.
Roasting their own coffee beans in Brooklyn the drinks are always bold and rich in flavor. Plus, since Kaffe Landskap partners with Collaborative Coffee Source you can rest assured your coffee was ethically sourced.
The Financial District coffee shop sells smoothies, juices, soups, salads, and sandwiches. This all in conjunction with traditional breakfast pastries, of course.
Address: 275 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10007
#1. Hole In The Wall
Hole In The Wall is so much more than another run-of-the-mill coffee shop in the Financial District, the Australian cafe is a culinary gem.
Serving fresh breakfast (using in-season ingredients) it’s not hard to see why the Financial District cafe is so loved. Popular menu items include the avocado toast, chili scrambled eggs and (my favorite) pulled pork eggs benedict.
Let’s not forget that this is a post covering the best coffee shops in the Financial District, and Hole In the Wall fits the bill. The cappuccinos, lattes and espressos leave little to be desired, they’re just that good!
If any of you love matcha as much as I do you’ll also love Hole In The Wall. The FiDi coffee shop makes one of my favorite matcha lattes in the city, and if you have yet to try it – have it with pistachio milk, total game-changer.
