Look I love a good margarita as much as the next gal, but what I love a little more than tequila is saving my money. With $22 cocktails being the norm, giving up drinking isn’t an option – this city’s too expensive for a sober mind! Jokes aside, what keeps New Yorkers sane? Happy hour deals. This post covers the best happy hour spots in the charming West Village, where finding a great deal won’t be an issue. Let’s dive in!

Rosemary’s
Website: Rosemary’s
Address: 18 Greenwich Ave, New York, NY 10011
Happy Hour: Weekdays 3 to 6PM
Named after the restaurateur’s mother, the ambition was to share quality dishes with the same passion his mother reserved for her own children. The quality is uncompromising. Heck, the restaurant even has its own rooftop vegetable garden that helps yield the produce they serve their guests. If that’s not impressive enough, Rosemary’s also happens to have one of the best happy hours in West Village.
You can order $12 cocktails, $7 glasses of wine, and a few small bites costing around $9- $15. I recommend the Rosemary Spritz along with the Caprese Focaccia. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a spot more refreshing for that price and quality!
Mermaid Oyster Bar
Website: Mermaid Oyster Bar
Address: 89 MacDougal St, New York, NY 10012
Happy Hour: Tuesday – Sunday 4:30 to 6:30PM
For seafood lovers, head to Mermaid Oyster Bar in West Village, known for its popular $1.25 oyster special during happy hour. Pair it with a $6 beer and salmon tartare for a top-notch Greenwich Village experience. If you prefer cocktails, they offer $10 craft cocktails and wine specials.
Expect a wait unless you arrive right at the 4:30 pm opening. With a welcoming atmosphere and excellent seafood selection, Mermaid Inn is a top choice for happy hour in West Village.
The Grey Dog
Website: The Grey Dog
Address: 49 Carmine St, New York, NY 10014
Happy Hour: Monday-Friday 3 to 7PM & Saturday-Sunday 4 to 7PM
One of the most affordable places to grab a happy hour in West Village is The Grey Dog. Serving American classics all day, you can enjoy the laid-back environment without having to set an alarm clock. Expect to find all the basics that are simple, quick, and always satisfying.
Where The Grey Dog really shines is with the impressive happy hour menu. The deals are so good, that even if you weren’t searching for a West Village happy hour spot, you’d think you found one (based on regular prices!).
Regular cocktails will cost you $12-$16 (which is almost unheard of in a pricey city like NYC!). But during happy hour, you can score beer for $4, wine for $5, and half-off priced cocktails, daily. A daily happy hour in West Village with a menu full of less than $10 options? Sign me up!
Art Bar
Website: Art Bar
Address: 52 8th Ave, New York, NY 10014
Happy Hour: Daily 4 to 7PM
Art Bar is a charming, dimly lit venue offering one of the best happy hour deals. With a cozy blend of dive bar and lounge vibes, the ambiance is unparalleled. Adorned with local artwork, comfy couches, and a fantastic drink deal—$5 draft beer, $5 house wine, and $5 well drinks—Art Bar is the perfect low-key spot for catching up with a friend. The moody lighting, fireplace, and relaxed atmosphere make it an underrated gem for those seeking a leisurely happy hour experience in West Village.
The Butcher’s Daughter
Website: The Butcher’s Daughter
Address: 581 Hudson St, New York, NY 10014
Happy Hour: Daily 4 to 7PM
Often, when happy hour is mentioned, our minds instantly go to affordable drinks. While that’s a great perk, not everyone is a fan of alcohol, and that’s perfectly fine. So, when you stumble upon a fantastic happy hour for food, it’s time to shout it from the rooftops.
Here’s me shouting: The Butcher’s Daughter boasts one of the best happy hours in West Village, catering especially to those with dietary restrictions. This plant-based restaurant offers a concise food and drink menu during happy hour.
You’ll find cocktails for $10, beer for $6, and a selection of food options ranging from $10 to $14. Though I’m not a vegetarian, the Butcher’s Burger (crafted from a vegetable & black bean patty) has me swooning. It’s the burger and the cauliflower Cacio e Pepe that keep me coming back to this West Village gem for happy hour.
Bobo
Website: Bobo
Address: 181 W 10th St, New York, NY 10014
Happy Hour: Daily 5 to 7PM (only in the den)
What’s better than a daily happy hour (yes that means weekend too) in a pricey city like NYC? Unfortunately not much (unless you’re my landlord reading this, then cutting down rent is way better!). Between the $10 cocktails, $5 beers, and $1 oysters, you can easily spend your evenings at Bobo without having to take out a loan.
This West Village happy hour spot offers indoor and outdoor seating, but it’s worth noting that happy hour specials are exclusively available in the den. Bobo’s is perfect for post-work gatherings with friends, where you can relax with an $8 glass of wine and savor one of the top happy hours in West Village.
Mace
Website: Mace
Address: 35 W 8th St, New York, NY 10011
Happy Hour: Monday-Friday 4PM to 7PM
Started by adventurous duo Nico de Soto and Greg Boehm, Mace has graced the list of World’s Best Bars for four years in a row. An astonishing feat, considering this popular Manhattan bar is less than a decade old.
Furthermore, Mace won the Best Cocktail Menu Award in 2022, meaning it’s well-cemented as one of the best bars in NYC. And lucky for us, Mace serves a killer happy hour in West Village.
The concept of this trendy cocktail bar in Manhattan is simple: incorporate adventure and travel into every perfectly-crafted drink. The menu boasts extravagant drinks featuring exotic spices from around the world. The bar’s popularity grew like wildfire as evidenced by the fact they had to relocate to a bigger space in the heart of Greenwich Village.
Amélie Wine Bar & Bistro
Website: Amélie Wine Bar & Bistro
Address: 22 W 8th St, New York, NY 10011
Happy Hour: Monday-Wednesday 4 to 7PM, Thursday 12 to 7PM, Friday- Saturday 12 to 6PM, Sunday 12 to 7PM
Affectionately called “La Petite Amélie,” this wine bar ranks among West Village’s top happy hours. Offering traditional French cuisine in a laid-back atmosphere, it’s perfect for a relaxed night out. With a Bib Gourmand Michelin rating (given to high-value restaurants), Amelie is a must-visit.
The standout item on the happy hour menu is the wine flight, priced at just $13 for three wines or one of their signature flights. Whether you’re new to wine or a connoisseur, the flight option lets you explore different flavors. Don’t miss the baked cheese, ideal for sharing. It’s a go-to spot for spontaneous meet-ups, but arrive early as tables fill up quickly during dinner.
Roey’s
Website: Roey’s
Address: 1 Perry St, New York, NY 10014
Happy Hour: Weekdays 4PM to 6PM
Roey’s, a sibling of Rosemary’s and Bobo, both featured on our list of West Village’s best happy hour spots, offers a noteworthy happy hour special. With $5 cocktails, $4 beer, pizzas starting at $6, and $6 glasses of wine, Roey’s attracts both locals and visitors looking for budget-friendly options.
The restaurant is flooded with natural light, providing an inviting and charming atmosphere. Its clean, no-frills, and open layout is impressive, and the best part is you can enjoy one of West Village’s best happy hours without breaking the bank. It’s a great spot for people-watching!
Dante Caffe
Website: Dante Caffe
Address: 551 Hudson St, New York, NY 10014 & 79-81 MacDougal St, New York, NY 10012
Happy Hour: Daily 3PM to 5PM
Dante Caffe dates back to 1915. It served as a staple for the community before slowly fading into oblivion before two Australians decided to breathe new life into the historic institution in 2015. The result was striking, Dante was named the best bar in the world in 2019 (4 years after re-opening!) and appeared on the list again in 2020.
This West Village happy hour spot is just as amazing as it sounds. The menu is well curated with small fare but the drinks are where this popular NYC bar truly shines. Dante boasts two locations — Dante West Village and Caffe Dante. The two bars are located a few blocks apart.
Dante offers one of the most generous happy hours in West Village. Both locations have a different drink set for happy hour. Dante West Village offers martinis for $10 and Caffe Dante offers negronis for $10. The price/quality ratio can’t be beat!
