Post Overview: Best Happy Hour in West Village
Look I love a good margarita as much as the next gal, but what I love a little more than tequila is saving my money. The cats been out of the bag for a while now that New York City isn’t the most affordable city. And spending $22 on a cocktail is considered “normal” here — ouch.
I already know what you’re thinking, if I really wanted to save money, why not just give up drinking? Uhm, did you miss the part about the pricey city — no one can pay rent here on a sober mind!
All jokes aside, one thing that keeps many New Yorkers sane is finding a good happy hour deal. In this post we are going to cover the best places to grab happy hour in West Village.
The West Village is one of New York City’s most charming neighborhoods full of cute shops, trendy restaurants and picturesque buildings. Finding a great happy hour in West Village won’t be a problem, so without further ado — let’s dive right in.

Happy Hour in West Village
Before we dive into this guide, please keep in mind prices and specials are subject to change at any time.
The Happiest Hour
Happy Hour: Monday- Friday 5PM-6:30PM
Just like the name suggests, The Happiest Hour is one of the best spots to score a deal if you’re searching for a good West Village happy hour.
The restaurant has a retro-tiki vibe to it, with palm trees and flamingo plastered around the room. It’s easy to get lost in the paradise theme and forget you’re in New York City.
If the disco ball and groovy music don’t set the bar high enough for a good time, how about a $10 martini? Offering $5 draft beers, $7 wine glasses and running specials throughout the week –this West Village happy hour is hard to beat.
The Happiest Hour is a spot you can always count on for a good time and don’t even think about leaving without ordering the burger!

Mermaid Oyster Bar
Happy Hour: 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm
If you love seafood, make a beeline for the Mermaid Oyster Bar. Serving a seafood-forward happy hour in West Village, this local joint is loved by all who visit.
The headliner is the $1.25 oyster special (minimum order of 6 required). Pair the $6 happy hour beer with the salmon tartare and you’ll see why locals consider this one of the best Greenwich Village happy hours.
If cocktails are more your speed, don’t fret. The Mermaid Inn offers a handful of $10 craft cocktails and wine during happy hour as well.
This goes without saying, but expect a wait unless you show up right around opening time at 4:30pm. The team does a great job of keeping things moving efficiently.
All this to say, between the welcoming ambience and great selection of seafood, it’s no wonder why the Mermaid Inn is considered one of the best places for happy hour in West Village.

The Grey Dog
Happy Hour: Monday-Friday 3PM to 7PM & Saturday-Sunday 4PM to 7PM
One of the most affordable places to grab happy hour in West Village is The Grey Dog.
Serving American classics all day, you can enjoy the laid-back environment without having to set an alarm clock. Expect to find all the basics that are simple, quick and always satisfying at this West Village restaurant.
Where The Grey Dog really shines is with the impressive happy hour menu. The deals are so good, that even if you weren’t searching for a West Village happy hour spot, you’d think you found one (based on regular prices!).
Regular cocktails will cost you $12-$16 (which is almost unheard of in a pricey city like NYC!). But during happy hour, you can score beer for $4, wine for $5 and half-off priced cocktails, daily.

Art Bar
Happy Hour: Daily 4PM to 7PM
Serving cocktails and bar food, the cozy, dimly lit restaurant offers one of the best deals during happy hour in West Village.
The space feels like the perfect blend between a dive bar and a lounge and the ambiance is hard to beat. You’ll find local artwork on the walls, couches for lingering and a hell of deal on drinks during happy hour.
I’m talking $5 draft beer, $5 house wine and $5 well drinks!
Art Bar is the spot if you’re looking for a low-key spot to catch up with a friend. Between the moody lighting, the fireplace and the drinks, you can enjoy taking your time and not feel rushed. It’s an underrated spot for happy hour in West Village for those who want to take it slow.

The Butcher’s Daughter
Happy Hour: Daily 4PM to 7PM
More times than not, when someone mentions happy hour our minds immediately jump to affordable alcohol. And while that is a perk, not everyone loves to drink (and that’s okay). So when you find a good happy hour on food, you run and scream about it from the rooftops.
Well friends, consider this me screaming. The Butcher’s Daughter offers one of the best happy hours in West Village for those with dietary restrictions. The restaurant is plant-based and serves a small food and drink menu during happy hour.
Expect to find cocktails for $10, beer for $6 and a handful of food options ranging between $10-$14. By no means am I a vegetarian, but the Butcher’s Burger (made from a vegetable & black bean patty) has me weak in my knees. The burger and the cauliflower Cacio e Pepe are the reason I keep coming back to this West Village happy hour spot.

Rosemary’s
Happy Hour: Weekdays 3PM to 6PM
Named after the restaurateur’s mother, the ambition was to share quality dishes with the same passion his mother reserved for her own children.
The quality is uncompromising. Heck, the restaurant even has its own rooftop vegetable garden that helps yield the produce they serve their guests. If that’s not impressive enough, Rosemary’s also happens to have one of the best happy hours in West Village.
You can order $12 cocktails, $7 glasses of wine and a few small bites costing around $9- $15. I recommend the Rosemary Spritz along with the Caprese Focaccia. You’ll be hard pressed to find a spot more refreshing for that price and quality!
Address: 18 Greenwich Ave, New York, NY 10011

Bobo
Happy Hour: Daily 5PM to 7PM (Only in the den)
What’s better than a daily happy hour (yes that means weekend too) in a pricey city like NYC? Unfortunately not much (unless you’re my landlord reading this, then cutting down rent is way better!).
Between the $10 cocktails, $5 beers and $1 oysters, you can easily spend your evenings at Bobo without having to take out a loan.
This West Village happy hour spot has seating both inside and outside but something to note is that happy hour is only served in the den.
Bobo’s is the ideal spot to meet up with friends after work, unwind over an $8 glass of wine and enjoy one of the best happy hours in West Village.
Address: 181 W 10th St, New York, NY 10014
Mace
Happy Hour: Monday-Friday 4PM to 7PM
Started by adventurous duo Nico de Soto and and Greg Boehm, Mace has graced the list of World’s Best Bars for four years in a row. An astonishing feat, considering this popular Manhattan bar was opened in 2015, merely five years ago.
Furthermore, Mace won the Best Cocktail Menu Award in 2022, meaning it’s well cemented as one of the best bars in NYC. And lucky for us, Mace serves a killer happy hour in West Village.
The concept of this trendy cocktail bar in Manhattan is simple: incorporate adventure and travel into every perfectly-crafted drink. The menu boasts extravagant drinks feature exotic spices from around the world. The bar’s popularity grew like wildfire as evidenced by the fact they had to relocate to a bigger space in the heart of Greenwich Village.
The staff at Mace are some of the nicest in the business and make for a memorable experience. Feel free to ask them for suggestions when visiting one of the best West Village happy hour spots.
Address: 35 W 8th St, New York, NY 10011

Amélie Wine Bar & Bistro
Happy Hour: Monday-Wednesday 4PM to 7PM, Thursday 12PM to 7PM, Friday- Saturday 12PM to 6PM, Sunday 12PM to 7PM
Affectionately known as “La Petite Amélie”, this wine bar is among the best happy hours in West Village. Offering traditional French fare in a casual setting, this is the place to go if you’re looking for an easy-going night on the town.
Boasting a Bib Gourmand Michelin rating (which is awarded to good value restaurants) Amelie warrants a visit. Undoubtedly the most enticing item on the happy hour menu is the wine flight. For only $13 you can sample three wines or choose one of their signature flights.
Whether you’re a novice or experienced wine drinker, the flight option allows you to explore and find something that suits your fancy. Just make sure to order the baked cheese on the happy hour menu, it’s delicious and perfect for splitting between two.
This is one of the best West Village happy hour spots for an impromptu meet-up, just make sure to show up early — the tables fill fast during the dinner hour.
Address: 22 W 8th St, New York, NY 10011

Roey’s
Happy Hour: Weekdays 4PM to 6PM
Roey’s is a sister restaurant to two other spots on our list of best West Village happy hour spots (Rosemary’s and Bobo). So it should come as no surprise that the happy hour special at Roey’s is worth writing about!
Serving $5 cocktails, $4 beer, pizzas starting at $6 and $6 glasses of wine, Roey’s has been a hot-spot for locals and visitors alike who are trying to save a buck.
The restaurant is flooded with natural light and the atmosphere is both inviting and charming. The no-frills, clean and open layout is sure to impress, but the best part is you don’t have to break the bank.
Enjoy some of the best happy hour in West Village while people watching in one of New York City’s liveliest neighborhoods.

Dante Caffe
Happy Hour: Daily 3PM to 5PM
Dante Caffe dates back to 1915. It served as a staple for the community before slowly fading into oblivion before two Australians decided to breathe new life into the historic institution in 2015. The result was striking, Dante was named the best bar in the world in 2019 (4 years after re-opening!) and appeared on the list again in 2020.
This West Village happy hour spot is just as amazing as it sounds. The menu is well curated with small fare but the drinks is where this popular NYC bar truly shines.
Dante boasts two locations — Dante West Village and Caffe Dante. The two bars are located a few blocks apart. I haven’t had luck getting into Caffe Dante without a reservation, so I suggest booking in advance.
Dante offers one of the most generous happy hours in West Village. Both locations have a different drink set for happy hour. Dante West Village offers martinis for $10 and Caffe Dante offers negronis for $10. The price/quality ratio can’t be beat!
Address: 551 Hudson St, New York, NY 10014 & 79-81 MacDougal St, New York, NY 10012
