Baking is love made visible.

Best DUMBO Bakeries
#10. Clinton Street Baking Co. (Time Out Market)
This one is a bit controversial since Clinton Street Baking Co. (located inside the Time Out Market) is more restaurant than it is bakery. However with that said, the biscuits here warrant a spot on our list of DUMBO bakeries.
Served warm with a side of butter and jam the biscuit’s are exactly what you want them to be. The interior is doughy and soft with a slightly crunchy exterior.
Also worth mentioning, the blueberry pancakes are truly some of the best in the whole city. But if biscuits or pancakes don’t do it for you, there is a small selection of baked goods to choose from as well. You can expect to find cakes, cookies and pies sold by the slice at this DUMBO bakery section.
Address: 55 Water St, Brooklyn, NY 11201
#9. Dough Doughnuts (Time Out Market)
As if you needed a reason to indulge in delicious, thick donuts; Dough Doughnuts just so happens to be one of the best bakeries in DUMBO. Founded as a passion project in Bedstuy, Brooklyn the bakery has been stealing New Yorkers heart’s since 2010.
Located inside the Time Out Market, Dough Doughnuts has two menus made up of hand-made artisanal treats. One is full of donuts available year-round and the other lists the seasonal donuts.
The hibiscus donut is one of their signatures, and I’ll be the first to admit that it’s a masterpiece.
The bright fuschia color captures your gaze from behind the counter and once you try it you’ll want to keep coming back for it. And as a bonus – Dough Doughnuts has vegan donuts available for those with dietary restrictions.
Address: 55 Water St, Brooklyn, NY 11201
#8. Bluestone Lane
Bluestone Lane is best known for their colorful and healthy brunch, but their coffee and treats are worth the trip alone. The DUMBO bakery is bright and fun thanks to their unique flamingo wallpaper and friendly staff.
Inspired by coffee culture of Melbourne Australia, Bluestone Lane helps New Yorkers start their days off right. They even sell their own packaged coffee to make at home, which happens to make a great gift.
Don’t be afraid to order one of the few delectable treats to pair with your coffee. Clear standouts are the zucchini bread and almond croissant!
Having to wait in line is practically guaranteed during the weekends, but the colorful DUMBO bakery is worth the wait. I recommend starting your day here with brunch and then taking your coffee and treat to-go while you explore the area.
Address: 55 Prospect St, Brooklyn, NY 11201
#7. Le French Tart Deli
When Paris is on the mind but your wallet has different feelings you make a beeline to Le French Tart Deli.
The small DUMBO bakery transports you to Europe the second you walk through the door. Selling many French related items, you can pick up all your cheese, baguette and crepe needs here.
But the highlight of this Parisian bakery is the mouth-watering croissants. Churning out one of the flakiest, butteriest, delicious-iest (let’s pretend that’s a word) croissants in all of NYC, consider visiting non-negotiable.
but don’t just stop at the croissant, the case is chock-full of tantalizing treats. You can’t go wrong ordering anything from this DUMBO bakery. I mean seriously, the smell of baking butter — it doesn’t get better than this.
Address: 44 Henry St, Brooklyn, NY 11201
#6. Burrow
One of the most adorable bakeries in DUMBO also happens to be one of the most underrated. Burrow is a Japanese bakery hidden in an office building.
The teeny tiny bakery is only open four days a week (Tuesday through Friday) for four hours a day. But trust me when I tell you that’s all the time they need to sell out of their divine treats.
All pastries are handmade by a former pastry chef who worked at The Modern at MoMa (a two Michelin-starred restaurant) and Plaza Hotel. All this to say, the expertise and innovation is second to none and you’ll be eating treats created by a skilled professional.
Expect to find mouth-watering baked goods and impressive cakes at this DUMBO bakery. If at all helpful, the cream puffs and pistachio mousse cake are two items I never leave without.
P.S; Burrow is located a short one minute walk away from BEEPUBLIC, one of the best coffee shops in DUMBO. Take your treat to-go and pair it with an amazing cup of coffee.
Address: 68 Jay St #119, Brooklyn, NY 11201
#5. Dawn’s Til Dusk
So you just walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and need a spot to rest your legs and refuel? I got you covered!
Dawn’s Til Dusk (also known as just Dawn’s) is one of the cutest DUMBO bakeries in the neighborhood. It’s located just a short walk away from the Brooklyn Bridge so it’s a perfect pit-stop after the trek.
The charming corner lot creates the ideal scene for people watching while sipping away on a latte. It also doesn’t hurt that Dawn’s has a small selection of irresistible baked goods, including mouthwatering cookies.
There’s a cookie called the Judith which happens to be gluten-free and vegan that I dream of often! It’s a coconut, toffee mix that’s so good you forget that it’s vegan.
It’s not uncommon for this adorable DUMBO bakery to boast a line. Between the picturesque building and laid-back vibes it’s not hard to see why it’s such a popular spot for a quick treat.
Locals Tip: This DUMBO bakery is a block over from the iconic picture spot in front of the famous Manhattan bridge! Just head to the cross section between Washington Street and Front Street.
Address: 33 Main St, Brooklyn, NY 11201
#4. Butler
Ryan Butler blessed New Yorkers when he opened Butler in 2016. Being a chef by profession, Butler has curated an exquisite and simple menu that compliments their delicious coffee from Intelligentsia coffee roasters.
Roasted to perfection, the coffee is among the smoothest you’ll find in NYC. I never miss an opportunity to stop by their bakery in DUMBO, even if I have to take my order to-go.
Whether you pop in first thing in the morning or for an afternoon snack, Butler has the perfect cup of Joe to pair with a tasty treat. I suggest ordering the olive oil muffin or the everything cruffin (croissant + muffin, need I say more?).
Their DUMBO bakery is usually full of chipper locals, or folks on laptops working away. With their big and light-filled space it’s hard to not want to stick around yourself.
Address: 40 Water St, Brooklyn, NY 11201
#3. Lassen & Hennigs
Lassen & Hennigs is a mixture between a grocery store, deli and bakery (similar to Whole Foods). The neighborhood hotspot has been serving locals since 1949.
The interior is very fitting with the picturesque neighborhood, boasting exposed brick walls and farm-style woodwork though-out the space.
Most folks swing by for a quick lunch and can’t help but end up wandering over to the case full of baked goods. For over six decades the DUMBO bakery has been creating loyal customers.
All the desserts are baked in-house, daily guaranteeing freshness. Expect to find an array of cookies, cakes and pies on display at this DUMBO bakery.
P.S, the hot bar is worth checking out! If you find yourself in the area after building up an appetite, swing by and try one of their soups or hot sandwiches.

#2. Jacques Torres Chocolate
For over 20 years, Jacques Torres has left his mark on the chocolate world and has created treats and drinks that could not be replicated no matter how hard you tried. Fortunately for us there’s a location in DUMBO!
As soon as you walk into the shop, you are met by the rich aroma of chocolate, and your eyes are instantly drawn to the mouthwatering sweets. Whether you’re a fan of truffles, cakes or cookies just know there is no chance you’re walking out without an armful of goods.
And while you’re (thoroughly) enjoying one of the best bakeries in DUMBO, consider this a great place to load up on souvenirs. Keychains and pens get lost, but (good) chocolate is forever…at least the memory!;)

#1. Almondine Bakery
Opened in 2004, French baker Herve Poussot made it his personal mission to bring classic French goods to the Big Apple. And lucky for us, he did just that!
Today the displays at Almondine Bakery are filled with colorful treats that will leave you licking your lips trying to decide which baked good is the one.
The DUMBO bakery is perfectly petite and the atmosphere is cozy with a laid-back vibe to it.
One thing you can never complain about here is the freshness. Almondine prioritizes quality and serving fresh baked goods and breads is of the utmost importance.
All your cravings are covered here, whether you want a sweet treat or a fresh baguette sandwich. If you need some guidance, the croissant at this DUMBO bakery is considered one of the best in the city. Bold statement, I know — but once you try the buttery, flakey layers you’ll quickly join the hype.
Locals Tip: It’s not uncommon for goods to sell out at this popular bakery in DUMBO, try visiting on a weekday or early in the morning.
Address: 85 Water St, Brooklyn, NY 11201
