Best Lower East Side Happy Hour Spots
Table of Contents: Happy Hour in the Lower East Side
Loreley Beer Garden
Website: Loreley Beer Garden
Address: 7 Rivington St, New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Monday – Tuesday 5 to 10PM | Wednesday – Thursday 5 to 7PM | Friday 12 to 4PM | Sunday 7 to 10PM
Loreley Beer Garden is irresistible with its heated patio, vibrant decor, and endless booze. All it takes is a “Come see us” post on Instagram and folks come running. Seriously, one of the best things to do in the Lower East Side is to stop by Loreley Beer Garden (especially during the holiday season) for the can’t-miss LES happy hour.
All draft beer is $2 off; there are one-liter steins for $16 (my go-to), $12 beer flights, and $2 off glasses of wine. Plus, depending on the season you visit, there are specials on holiday drinks (bourbon hot chocolate for Christmas, Guinness on St. Patrick’s Day, etc.)
Bar Belly
Website: Bar Belly
Address: 14 Orchard St, New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Sunday & Saturday, 5 to 7PM
$1 happy hour oysters at Bar Belly? Count me in! Running daily from 5-7 PM, Bar Belly, already a top spot in the Lower East Side, solidifies its status as a favorite happy hour joint with this generous offering. As one of the friendliest bars in the neighborhood, expect to leave feeling like you’ve made new friends since the service here is incredible.
Not to mention the live music, which adds to the laid-back vibes. Both locals and visitors find comfort in the unfussy LES happy hour spot. The drinks are expertly crafted, and the daily happy hour from 5 to 7 PM makes it easy to keep coming back.
Jadis
Website: Jadis
Address: 42 Rivington St, New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Sunday – Thursday 5 to 7PM | Friday & Saturday 4 to 7PM
Jadis is an ideal first date spot, whisking you away to a romantic setting with exposed brick and candlelit tables, reminiscent of a French wine cellar. Surprisingly, it also offers one of the best Lower East Side happy hours, featuring exquisite wines starting at $7.
While beers are available, opting for wine enhances the experience. Enjoy shareable dishes under $10. It’s worth mentioning the portions are small, so either make dinner plans elsewhere or come prepared for a meal at Jadis. Remember that if you eat here, the meals aren’t a part of the beloved Lower East Side happy hour.
Bonnie Vee
Website: Bonnie Vee
Address: 17 Stanton St, New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Tuesday to Friday, 4 – 8PM
When the weather’s good, Bonnie Vee’s back patio is a popular spot. Enjoy one of the best happy hours in the Lower East Side amid outdoor couches and a laid-back backyard vibe with great sunsets. The LES happy hour menu offers $11 mimosas, martinis, and gimlets, as well as $10 house wines. Add in some shareable appetizers like potato wedges, a pretzel, or sliders, and bring a friend, and you have all you need for an affordable hangout in an expensive city.
The Magician
Website: The Magician
Address: 118 Rivington St, New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Daily, 5 to 8PM
The Magician pulls off a budget-friendly trick in a city where drinks can be pricey. With a can’t-miss happy hour from 5 to 8 PM daily in the Lower East Side, you get select well liquor, draft beer, and wines for just $6 each. It’s a wallet-friendly option with attentive bartenders and ample seating, making it one of the best LES happy hour spots to start the night.
Something to know: The Magician is sister-bars with Tile Bar, which is a little further north and has one of the best happy hours in the East Village.
Nurse Bettie
Website: Nurse Bettie
Address: 106 Norfolk St, New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Monday-Friday 4 to 7PM & Saturday – Sunday 2 to 7PM
Styled after the burlesque bars of the 1950’s Nurse Bettie is a blast from the past. For such a small bar you’ll find a high-spirited extravaganza fueled by alcohol, good music and lively chatter. They also have one of the best happy hours in the Lower East Side headlined by $6 well drinks and beer as well as a constant supply of specials.
My favorite is an $8 cucumber vodka soda that transforms “just one drink” into a full afternoon affair. If you’re hoping to catch a burlesque show there won’t be any during the Lower East Side happy hour. Most shows are on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9 PM and happy hour ends at 7 PM. For a full rundown on shows check online.
Essex
Website: Essex
Address: 124 Rivington St, New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Monday – Friday, 5 to 7PM
Essex is a go-to spot for any occasion, offering one of the best happy hours in the Lower East Side. All signature cocktails are $8, and there’s beer, wine, and sangria for even less. With a lively crowd, it’s a guaranteed good time. Enjoy satisfying snacks like fried calamari and brisket sliders, all under $10. As the most popular happy hour spot in the Lower East Side, reservations are strongly recommended, and be sure to mention you’re there for happy hour since it’s only available at the bar or high-top tables.

Antler
Address: 123 Allen St, New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Daily, 4 – 7 PM
An unassuming neighborhood joint – you could walk by Antler a dozen times before making the decision to step inside. That’s all part of the charm; it’s just a hole-in-the-wall friendly neighborhood bar. And true to form, this neighborhood bar has one of the best happy hours in the Lower East Side. $5 wine and beer allow you to unwind without the fear of being unable to afford dinner!
The quiet little bar is a great place for a casual hangout. It feels like a friend’s cozy house, with couches and small wooden tables perfect for chats with a friend while enjoying a can’t miss happy hour in the Lower East Side.
Donnybrooks
Website: Donnybrooks
Address: 35 Clinton St, New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Monday – Friday, 12 to 8PM
Donnybrooks feels unpretentious and laid back, like a neighborhood dive bar, but it also feels a little fancy. If a dive bar was a t-shirt and upscale bars were button-ups, Donnybrooks is like a nice polo. Like most Lower East Side happy hour spots, the specials are subject to change, but at Donnybrooks, they revolve around drinks.
Expect to find refreshing draft beer at some of the best prices in the neighborhood. On the bright side, Donnybrook allows outside food so bring your own food and enjoy one of the best LES happy hour deals in the area.
Pretty Ricky’s
Website: Pretty Ricky’s
Address: 101 Rivington St, New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Tuesday – Friday, 4 to 7PM
Pretty Ricky’s represents the eclectic spirit of the Lower East Side perfectly with a blend of rustic and modern decor and welcoming staff. It’s easy to hang out for a while, too. Tables are readily available (although I’d grab a reservation for four or more people), and the cocktail menu rotates with the seasons, so there’s always a reason to visit.
Pretty Ricky’s also has one of the best happy hours in the Lower East Side, boasting $5 beer, $6 wine and well drinks, and a selection of shareable appetizers for less than $10. And although the Lower East Side happy hour destination has no relation to the R&B group Pretty Ricky you can expect great tunes, too.
The Ten Bells
Website: The Ten Bells
Address: 247 Broome St.New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Daily from open – 7PM
Anybody who’s lived in New York City has learned to read between the lines, and when a place is described as “cozy” it usually means it’s microscopic. However, believe me when I tell you The Ten Bells really is cozy. Meant to be an intimate wine and tapas bar, The Ten Bells has candle-lit tables waiting to host your date.
As one of the best oyster happy hours in the Lower East Side, you’ll find them for $1.50 a pop. This enables you to knock them back like tic-tacs. There are also $20 carafes of wine that hold about 16 ounces. Most wine pours are typically five ounces, so you’re essentially getting three drinks for the price of one.
Grey Lady
Website: Grey Lady
Address: 77 Delancey St, New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Sunday – Friday, 4 to 7PM
Grey Lady is a seafood restaurant with one of the best happy hours in the Lower East Side. You’ll find oysters for a dollar as well as $6 beer, $9 wine, and $10 classic cocktails. The ambiance is appropriate for a business casual dinner but still loose enough to have fun and unwind.
Black Crescent
Website: Black Crescent
Address: 76 Clinton Street New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Daily, 3 to 7PM
If you’re looking for a dive-bar vibe with craft-cocktail quality, look no further than Black Crescent. The fry-cook deserves a raise, I don’t care what they’re making because I’ve eaten my weight in Bang Bang Shrimp (Gulf-Coast shrimp, spicy aioli and lime). What’s more, with daily happy hour from 5-7 PM featuring $10 cocktails how can this not be one of the best happy hour bars in the Lower East Side?
Set L.E.S
Website: Set L.E.S
Address: 127 Ludlow St, New York, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Monday – Friday, 5 to 8PM
Anyone searching for the best happy hour in the Lower East Side needs to make a beeline for Set L.E.S. The LES happy hour spot goes above and beyond by handpicking all ingredients to ensure the freshest and highest quality dining experience. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is pub-style with an Asian flair.
But this Lower East Side happy hour spot really shines thanks to immense menu full of specials. There are deals to be had on beer, wine and cocktails like frozen margaritas. There’s also a small happy hour food menu that includes wings, nachos, and baos (steamed buns). And if you like tacos, on Tuesdays Set L.E.S. has them for $3 a pop during happy hour.
Verlaine
Website: Verlaine
Address: 110 rivington street, NY, NY 10002
Happy Hour: Tuesday – Sunday, 5 to 10PM
Verlaine, a sophisticated spot in the Lower East Side, hosts one of the best happy hours around. While the drink selection is limited, they often feature unique options not found elsewhere. Try their memorable lychee martini for just $8 during happy hour. It’s more of a restaurant but serves incredible drinks. With reservations available for parties of 6 or more, it’s perfect for meeting up with friends. Plus, their happy hour lasts from 5 to 10 PM, making it one of the latest in the Lower East Side.
